Service Description

“Understanding Suicide—What Mental Health Professionals Need to Know about Assessment and Managing Suicide Risk” provides a comprehensive examination of best practices when working with clients at risk of suicide. The program covers the significance of self-awareness, including professional competence, scope of practice, and personal preparedness for treating clients at risk. Key topics include ethical considerations and legal obligations related to the assessment and treatment of at-risk and suicidal individuals. Participants will gain detailed knowledge regarding levels of care for both voluntary and involuntary clients, as well as available resources. The curriculum addresses methodologies for assessing and managing suicide risk, including current models, assessment and screening instruments, evaluation of risk and protective factors, and appropriate documentation throughout the process. The importance of professional collaboration and maintaining practitioner self-care is emphasized. Attendees will have opportunities to review specific case vignettes and participate actively in discussions and Q&A sessions. Objectives: 1.) Evaluate personal readiness to assess and treat clients at risk for suicide 2.) Discuss the legal and ethical obligations and considerations in the Assessment and Treatment of clients at risk for suicide 3.) Efficiently and adequately assess client level of risk utilizing a clear framework including eliciting suicidal ideation, behavior, plans, and intent 4.) Utilize clinical judgement in identifying level of care needed and treatment planning including referral to higher level of care when needed 5.) Demonstrate increased confidence in documenting the assessment, treatment, and collaboration process. 6.) Develop a safety plan and crisis response plan 7.) Discuss the importance of collaborative relationships, supervision or consultation, and self care. This is a virtual training via Zoom. To receive CE credit cameras must remain on for the majority of the training.

Cancellation Policy

With respect to cancellations and refunds, the policy of Building Foundations Training is as follows: *If you register for an event and cancel your registration 30 or more days prior to the event, you may receive a full refund minus a $25.00 processing fee. You may also elect to obtain a credit for the paid amount, minus the $25.00 processing fee. *If you register for an event and cancel fewer than 30 days before the event, you are ineligible for a refund. However, you may request a credit for your payment minus the $25.00 processing fee. *Any credit provided will expire 12 months from the date of issue. The attendee is responsible for maintaining the unique code provided by Building Foundations Training as it will not be reissued or resent. *If you register for an event and do not attend, our policy is that you forfeit the registration fee, and no refund or credit will be provided. *Building Foundations Training reserves the right to cancel any training due to unforeseen circumstances. If this occurs, you will be notified, and a full refund will be initiated within 72 business hours of the cancellation. Building Foundations Training's liability for cancellations is limited to the cost of the registration fee. Building Foundations Training is not responsible for other expenses incurred by the customer if training is cancelled.
